Clyde

Clyde has been with us since Nov 12, 2018, we received a call from animal control in St Landry Parish, Louisiana about a stray that had been rushed to an emergency vet. Poor Clyde was skin and bones and very sick. He was diagnosed with Pythiosis aka “swamp cancer” which comes from drinking dirty water and is almost always fatal. Clyde showed us his will to live and with a great medical team from the University of Mississippi he was started on a protocol to treat and manage his disease. Clyde was flown to NJ on a Pilots and Paws airplane weighing in at on 28 pounds. Clyde lives with a wonderful foster family who take great care of him and has managed his disease with a special medical protocol and diet. This special boy is beating the odds and is a very happy boy!

Dogs like Clyde, who are in our sponsorship program are not available for adoption into a forever home. They remain in the care of the rescue due to severe medical issues or behavioral problems for life. Sponsorship helps to offset the costs it takes for us to care for these special dogs for the rest of their lives. Every dog deserves the chance to live, thrive and to be loved despite whatever obstacles they have.
