Meringue

Blondie (formerly Meringue) is an absolute joy. She is calm, mello, super adorable, has soft velvet ears, and loves to chase butterflies. My favorite thing to do with her is to snuggle! She love balls, but cannot have tennis or baseballs, as she destroys them! She also loves her Nylabones.

She was only 12 weeks old when I adopted her – it’s fun to watch her grow, and being a “mix”, what she will become. She certainly has the “hound” nose and is always sniffing out something.

Bertha

I adopted Bertha from Tri-State Basset Rescue in October of 2013. She is such a tremendous success story and I feel terrible for not sending a follow-up message sooner. When I first got Bertha, she had so many health problems, including terrible worms that took months to treat. For the first few months I had Bertha, she was sick, withdrawn and only wanted to sit on the couch and stare off into space. She was always sweet but seemed incredibly disconnected. Eventually, after my fiance and I continued to force love and hugs and kisses upon her, she started to respond. It wasn’t an overnight change but now, two years later, she might be the most affectionate dog of all time. And more importantly, she is HEALTHY AND HAPPY! In fact, people stop us on the street all the time to tell us how happy our dog looks. She has a pep in her step that attracts strangers and she simply does not have an aggressive bone in her body.
In short, Bertha is one of the best things that has ever happened to us and we love her beyond words. She enriches our lives every day and even though she doesn’t talk, she tells us all the time how loved she feels. Thank you so much for bringing her to us. – Beth Rosner

Raven

We got Raven in March from the TriState Rescue. She is such an adorable and loving girl, however a true Bassett Hound, very stubborn. She enjoys going out for walks and will even stop at times, stretch out on people’s lawns or sidewalks and roll over, back and forth, I’m guessing to scratch or massage her back. Then she looks at you with those droopy eyes and says “yeah, what you want”. And then gets up and continues her walk when she ready or after some gentle coaxing. We have had Miss Raven now for almost 10 months and have had some serious medical issues; but so far she has endured and we pray that she hangs in there so we can continue to enjoy and love her.

Chiffon

Snickers and Chiffon (Now Indy & Luna)
Since the day we got our girls we’ve gotten unconditional love! We couldn’t be happier with this rescue and all that they did for our girls and for us. We got the two sweetest basset babies and we couldn’t be happier:)

Droopy

Thank You to Tri-State Bassett Hound Rescue for bringing Duke (formerly Droopy) into our lives at a time when we had just lost our young beloved basset hound Sir Sherlock Holmes. Duke has filled our void with love, joy, and happiness. Duke is a very energetic and funny dog with a lovable personality.

Van Helsing

We adopted Manny (Van Helsing) a few months ago. I was worried because we never met him and I wasn’t sure he would get along with my other dog and fit in. But, he’s proven to be a perfect addition to our home – he snuggles and sleeps with my other dog, hasn’t had any housebreaking issues, and loves his walks. I couldn’t be happier with the little guy. His name is Manny because it’s short for Manners – he’s so well-behaved!

Dexter

It’s been 2 years since we adopted Dexter courtesy of TSBHR. His former family was moving to Florida and could only take 2 of their 8 dogs with them so they were surrendering 6 Basset Hounds. We had recently lost our beloved Basset, Sam, who was 16 at the time of his passing. I kept looking at all the dogs available for adoption on the TSBHR website and, after 7 dog-less weeks, we succeeded in welcoming Dexter into our home. He brought some “baggage” with him but, that just endears him to us even more and we have never had any buyers remorse!
